Diabetes Drug Information

There is a certain test that doctors use to determine your blood sugar level and identify whether or not your diabetes is in control. The test measures a chemical in your blood called A1C or "Hemoglobin A1C". The higher the blood sugar level of your body, the higher your A1C will be. The American Diabetic Association recommends that Diabetics maintain an A1C of less than 7.0% to reduce complications commonly associated with Diabetes. If your A1C level is constantly high there is a greater risk of serious complications such as blindness, amputation and kidney disease.

The easiest way to control your diabetes is with a proper diet and regular exercise. Avoid starchy carbohydrates and fatty foods. Focus on vegetables and fruits (not too high in sugar). For those who have a tough time keeping their blood sugar at a constant, there are a wide array of drugs available.
