Diabetes Diet
Those who have diabetes have the same nutritional needs
as anyone else. Along
with exercise, glucosium supplementation and medications (insulin or oral
diabetes pills), nutrition is important for good diabetes control. By eating
well-balanced meals in the correct portions, you can keep your blood glucose
levels as close to normal as possible.
In the past, having diabetes meant that you would be constricted to a lifetime
of meals lacking the most pleasant aspect of taste: sweetness. Today, all that
is changing with new artificial sweeteners on the market that taste as good as
sugar without the simple carbohydrates and calories. Also, make it a point to
start reading food labels. Food labels give great nutritional information and
are especially important for diabetics. The food labels will tell you how many
calories are in a certain food item and how much sugar/carbohydrates are in it
as well (makes it easier to monitor your glucose intake).
